Mindfulness for ADHD

Mindfulness can be a powerful tool in helping manage ADHD symptoms especially for those who are looking for alternatives to pharmaceutical treatment. The practice of being in the moment opens up the door to better self regulation, more self compassion, greater resilience, and overall improved mood.

A research study conducted in 2008 titled Mindfulness Meditation Training in Adults and Adolescents found that 78 percent of participants reported a reduction in their ADHD symptoms. That translates to 8 out of 10 people.

The researcher involved with this study went on to publish a book The Mindfulness Prescription for Adult ADHD linked below. This work helped to rewrite the narrative that mindfulness is some mysterious technique only used by gurus or the most enlightened among us. Anyone can learn and practice mindfulness.
